Task 1: Talk about an activity you enjoy doing with your family. Why do you enjoy this activity?

I enjoyed camping with my family the most. First of all, spending a weekend camping gives us a chance to take a break from buildings and streets in the city. It’s wonderful to be in the nature and see some wild animals. We see lots of deer on our trips. Second, camping taught me many life skills. I learned how to fish, start a fire and navigate without a compass. I rarely use these skills, but I think it’s nice to have them. Lastly, the long hikes we took on our camping trips made me a tougher person both mentally and physically.

Task 2: Do you agree or disagree with the statement that playing video games is a waste of time.

Sample

I do believe that playing video games is a waste of time. This is a true story, from my own life. In my first year in high school, I was addicted to video games. I played them all the time and I wasn’t studying enough. I was failing chemistry. That was my hardest class. So this was a conflict for me, because I wanted a good job when I grew up, and I believed, I knew, that if you want a good career, you got to do well in school. I quit playing after I thought about it long and hard. A few months later, I saw great improvement with my grade, and I haven’t played much even since.

Task 3

學(xué)生建議學(xué)校取消停車場(chǎng)因?yàn)檎嫉靥�大，取消的話�?huì)給學(xué)生帶來(lái)很多好處。女生同意，取消的話學(xué)生會(huì)有很多綠地來(lái)hang out，而且這樣可以緩解交通問題，方便學(xué)生騎自行車。

Proposal: A student proposes the school should eliminate the big parking lot, and it will bring a lot of benefits to students.

The woman agrees for two reasons.

1. If the parking lot is eliminated, students will have a lot of green space to hang out. 2. It will also ease the traffic and be convenient for students to ridetheir bikes around.

Task 4

Principle of allocation: 動(dòng)物會(huì)根據(jù)任務(wù)的難易來(lái)調(diào)整自己精力和時(shí)間的分配。教授舉例，elephant seals生活的海洋有很多余，所以找食物很容易但是繁殖很難，需要花時(shí)間找地方繁殖。它們要確定自己的領(lǐng)地來(lái)吸引異性，還要費(fèi)力趕走其它的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)者。

The professor talks about principle of allocation which means animals allocate their energy and time based on the degree of difficulty of the tasks. For example, there are a lot of fish where elephant seals live, so it is easy to fmd food but hard to reproduce. It takes a lot of time to find a location, attract female seals, and drive away competitors.

Task 5

女學(xué)生在文學(xué)討論課上總是助教再說(shuō)，學(xué)生們沒有機(jī)會(huì)討論。

Solution 1: 跟老師直接反應(yīng)問題并且換個(gè)班，但她擔(dān)心會(huì)影響TA升職讓TA丟工作。

Solution2: 下學(xué)期再選這個(gè)課，但她已經(jīng)付出很大的精力并且麥克很多書。

The woman’s problem is that at her literature seminar, the TA is talking too much and other students don’t have the chance to discuss. The first solution is that she can talk to the professor and change a class, but she is afraid the TA might lose his/her job. The second solution is that she can take this course next semester, but she has been working a lot on this class and bought a lot of books.

Task 6

Marketing廣告既要有語(yǔ)言又要有圖像來(lái)吸引顧客。舉例：旅游公司推廣seaside既要給出好看的圖片（colorful and striking景色， beach and skies），又要用文字描述哪里好。

Advertisement should include words and images to appeal to customers. For example, a travel agency promotes a seaside by showing colorful and striking scenes, like beaches and beautiful skies, and using words to describe them.
