I would say the memorable volunteer work that I did was to volunteer as a teacher in a mountainous region in the northwest of China. It is definitely a poverty stricken region. I can still remember that the kids drink muddy water from right from the faucet, to say nothing about the food they eat, and not surprisingly, many of the kids suffer from malnutrition. I taught math in a campus for a month, the experience makes me appreciate life more and not take things for granted. Also, I feel like I am needed by the community and having something to offer back to society gives my life a sense of purpose. Based on these reasons, I find it most memorable.
