Yeah, I really enjoy receiving gifts from friends because I’m always moved when someone gives me a gift on some special occasion like my birthday. I sometimes receive some books, fruit, tea from my close friends.

2. What kind of gifts do you like to receive?(Why?)

Actually, I really enjoy receiving books as gifts because I’m a bookworm, reading is my favourite habit.

3. What gifts did you receive in your childhood?

When I was a little boy, I had received a wide variety of gifts that I really liked, such as books, stationery, balls and so on.

4. Do you like giving gifts to people?(Why?/ Why not?)

Yes, I do. I’m pretty into giving gifts to friends because gifts can enhance the friendship between friends, although they will cost much, I still like sending gifts because I believe giving is much more pleasure than taking.

5. What gifts did you give to others in your childhood?

I just remembered when I was young, I was used to send friends something I made by myself, like making a postcard.

a) Because I like reading widely, it is difficult for me to choose a specific type of book. I am sure you can appreciate my dilemma.

b) Anyway, I have always enjoyed reading autobiographies.

a) An autobiography is a book, which a person has written about his or her life.

b) For example, famous people write about their experiences throughout life.

There are several reasons as for why I would like to talk specifically about autobiographies. Allow me to explain by mentioning some of them briefly.

a) Firstly, I have been able to learn valuable lessons from the lives of others.

b) For example, the determination shown by people like Newton and Nobel has inspired me to persist with my studies.

a) Autobiographies can be very interesting and revealing.

b) In the case of politicians, for example, we often find that they explain the reasons for actions that they took while in office.

5. So it is clear that I will keep or reading autobiographies in future.

How many languages can you speak?

Only two, unfortunately, those being Chinese and English, but if dialects count, then I suppose you could say three languages, as I can also speak the local dialect of my hometown, which is actually quite a bit different to Chinese.

How did you learn English?

Well, I mostly learned it in class at middle school and high school, where we basically just went through the text book with the teacher and took notes. But in my spare time I would always try to memorize all the various words and phrases we had been through in class, which I think helped a lot. And as well as this, I would also say I've learnt a fair amount through watching English films and TV series, so it's basically been a mixture of things.

How long have you been learning English?

I've been learning for quite a while, – probably something like 9 or 10 years now, because most students here start learning English from a pretty early age.

Would you say it's a difficult language to learn?

Yeah, for sure! I mean, learning all the grammar's a nightmare, because there's just so much of it to remember. So sometimes it can really drive me crazy, especially trying to remember all the different tenses, which I find really confusing!

What do you think is the fastest way to learn a language?

That's a good question, and I guess I'd say probably the fastest way is to immerse yourself in the language you're trying to learn. And one of the best ways of doing this would be to go and stay for a while in the country where the language is spoken, which is what quite a lot of my friends have done, and, as a result, they can now speak really good English.

Well, the movie that I’d like to watch again is Finding Neverland. You probably watched it too.

It tells a story of Barrie, a Scottish play writer develops a strong friendship with the widowed Sylvia and her four young sons whose imaginative behaviour gives him ideas. He incorporates them into a play about boys who do not want to grow up. The play, Peter Pan, proves to be a huge success after Sylvia becomes increasingly weak from an unidentified illness, so Barrie arranges to have an play performed in her home. She dies shortly afterwards, and Barrie finds that her will is to have him and her mother look after the boys.

I downloaded this film from the Internet last year, and watched it at home on the couch on TV.

I guess that Finding Neverland is a warm, heartfelt drama with an engaging story. Finding Neverland is a simple story, but in the tragic and painful ending, it digs under the skin of everyday life to ask a big question that as we grow up, we left behind too much innocence in the childhood, which touches on the deepest emotions of normal people, so I really want to relive these touching moments in the future.
