Task 3

【個(gè)人倡議】：一個(gè)學(xué)生給學(xué)校寫(xiě)信給校報(bào)建議學(xué)校應(yīng)add a three-day fall break just before midterm in each fall semester。這樣做有兩個(gè)好處：1、students can relax themselves during the break。2、they can get some time off to prepare for the their projects。

【學(xué)生態(tài)度】：男生同意此建議。理由1、this suggestion is especially good for the first year students who needs some time to get adjusted to their college life. Both the way to live and the study pace are different from that of a high school。Students, especially for 1st year student. 可利用這三天假期to relax。理由2、期中midterm很忙，一個(gè)星期考幾門(mén)exams，有時(shí)候they will also have so many projects or research papers to complete。學(xué)生們可use the time to do assignment and research來(lái)finish their projects and papers。The male student gives an example of his history class。

【名詞解釋】：friend affiliation（群體歸屬）：refers to the people’s desire to be a member of a certain group。想讓顧客買(mǎi)產(chǎn)品，必須要有affiliation。廣告商make advisement by using people’s affiliation有兩種方法：一是利用其positive effect，通過(guò)宣揚(yáng)廣告產(chǎn)品可以增加affiliation，在朋友之間尋求認(rèn)同。二是利用其negative方法，如果用別的brand產(chǎn)品就會(huì)失去affiliation。

【教授舉例】：為一個(gè)軟飲料公司策劃一個(gè)ad campaign，可有兩種方案：第一種方案：在一個(gè)happy party里，everybody都drink the same kind of新brand的soda，都很happy。The soda becomes a very important thing in this situation。第二種方案：some young people are watching a football game in a stadium，突然 one of them drink a wrong brand of soda，then all the people become quite音樂(lè)和party也就此stop了and 用奇怪的眼神look at him，and leave him alone，even his best friend left him。Then he realized he made a big mistake to drink the wrong kind soda，然后這人就換了個(gè)口味。這是從negative入手讓觀(guān)眾喜歡這個(gè)牌子的soda。問(wèn)教授是怎么說(shuō)明reading passage中的觀(guān)點(diǎn)的。 [2007.1.14/2008.7.12]

【學(xué)生困難】：一個(gè)女生和her friend要搬出校園，要share租a new apartment ，本來(lái)昨天已經(jīng)看好了an apartment，價(jià)錢(qián)合適，也很大just OK，準(zhǔn)備今天下午去sign the contract for the apartment。但她今天自己又看到一個(gè)nicer的，larger and closer to school，就是價(jià)錢(qián)有點(diǎn)貴，她想租這個(gè)。想要的話(huà)，今天必須簽合同否則就沒(méi)了。但她室友went to hiking了，要一周后才回來(lái)the next week。has no access to emails and mobile。So, she can’t be able to contact her friend to make a decision together. 女生不知怎辦。

【解決方案】： 女生給兩個(gè)解決方案：方案1、sign the new contract for the new apartment which is more expensive, closer to campus, nicer and due today without her friend's opinion。這個(gè)女生可以接受價(jià)格，但She doesn't know her friend's financial situation，擔(dān)心她室友負(fù)擔(dān)不起。方案2、stay with the previous apartment they have agreement on which has right price and a OK place，畢竟這個(gè)是兩人一起同意的。但這個(gè)女生不喜歡。

Task 6

【講課要點(diǎn)】：早期人類(lèi)two benefits of domesticating animals：好處1、馴養(yǎng)了動(dòng)物以后，人們隨時(shí)可以吃meat，省著打獵有時(shí)候打不到，沒(méi)得吃。舉例：goats were easy to control and they would move with people, then people could have consistent and reliable food resources。好處2、人們可以得到很多product。舉例：Goats could produce milk。People could not only drink milk，but also use milk to make yogurt and cheese, which were easy to restore。
