一、 Relative Clauses (關(guān)系從句)
1、限定性關(guān)系從句
作用：對先行詞進(jìn)行限制和確定，從句前后沒有逗號。
--The house in which/where she lives now is in the city center.
--2011 is the year when Linda was admitted to a university.
關(guān)系代詞：
人：who, whom, that, whose, when, where, why
E.g. --The man who/that is standing behind the counter is a shop assistant.
-- The girl whom/that we talked to just now is our teacher.
-- This is the hotel where/in which we lived last year.
物：which, that, when, where, why
E.g. –The book which/that /- I bought yesterday is so expensive.
-- I still remember the day when / on which I graduated.

2. 非限定性關(guān)系從句
與主句關(guān)系較為松散，對先行詞起說明、描繪作用，一旦刪除，不影響主句的意義。一般用逗號分開。
My neighbour, whose son is now in the USA, is a doctor.
引導(dǎo)詞：who (人)，which(物/整個(gè)句子)
-- I told the news to Philip, who later told it to his parents.
-- Susan has been ill for about a week, which made her suffer a lot.
