Task 1

Which of the following is the best way to spend your weekends? Exercising, cooking, or visiting friends.

周末怎么度過？是選擇鍛煉，烹飪還是看望朋友？

I would like to take exercises with my family members at the weekends. Climbing the mountains is our favorite. After 5-day tired work and study, we all want to have a rest to relax ourselves. My father will drive us to the foot of the mountain that is the start of our enjoyable hiking. The fresh air and the blooming flowers dispel all of our tiredness. Besides, it is beneficial for us to keep in good health and lose weight due to the fact that when we exercise, our calorie will be burned. That's why I prefer to do this meaningful activity.

Task 2

Some people prefer to live in old buildings, others prefer to live in new and modern buildings. Which do you prefer? Explain why.

喜歡在古老有歷史感的地方居住還是更愿意住在現(xiàn)代化的地方？

I prefer to live in modern buildings for the following reasons.

First of all, the modern buildings are better equipped than the old ones. New apartments come with air conditioning, heating, 24-hour hot water and security system. I think it is very true in my case. When I was a kid, I used to live in an old building, it was frozen cold in the winter because of lacking the heating system.

Secondly, the old buildings are always in their bad condition which will cost a fortune to repair. Maybe I have to fix the roof, change the electrical wires and tear down the walls because some of them are eaten by the insects or spoiled by dampness or rain.

Task 3

The letter proposes the school should open classes outside the classroom because good scenery will make the students focus and avoid boredom and the school has installed some benches and seats outside.

The student disagrees with the proposal.

First, there are too many distractions outside. Students will be distracted when friends are passing through.

Second, there aren't enough seats available, it's inconvenient for students to take notes if they have to stand there.

一個(gè)學(xué)生寫信給學(xué)校，讓老師在天氣好的時(shí)候帶同學(xué)們?nèi)ナ彝馍险n，主要是讓學(xué)生集中精神學(xué)的更多。對話里的男生反對。第一他覺得會(huì)起到反作用，同學(xué)們更容易分心，比如朋友路過，會(huì)打招呼，還有小鳥飛過，然后教室就可以把這一切隔絕在外。第二，他覺得在外面不方便，沒有足夠的地方讓這么多學(xué)生聽課，而且也不方便記筆記，有的人要用電腦。

Task 4

Population cycle in ecology system: mice and wolf. Wolf is the predator and mice is the prey.

There are three steps：

1. When mice are numerous, wolves have enough food. Then the number of mice decreases and the wolves get increased.

2. When the number of mice decreases, the wolves lack of food and then the number of wolves decreases. Later the number of mice increases.

3. It turns back to step one.

介紹了cycle population changes。教授說wolf和mice的此消彼長的三個(gè)階段，并且第三個(gè)階段就是第一個(gè)階段，形成循環(huán)。

Task 5

The man's problem is that he left his keys in the dorm and he forgot to take his paper with him, which should be handed in today. He's roommate was in another city now. There are two solutions for him. First, he should tell the professor but his paper was regarded late. Second, he could ask the administrator of the dorm to open the door but it would cost him 15 dollars.

男生的問題是他把今天要用的論文鎖在宿舍了。

第一個(gè)辦法就是向教授坦白，但是他以前也有沒帶論文的時(shí)候，他不想讓教授覺得他是個(gè)"慣犯"。第二個(gè)辦法就是叫人來開鎖，但是要花錢。

Task 6

The professor talks about two types of suspense in a movie.

The first type is that the audience feels interesting to guess the end. For example, two heroes set the same goal, but the audiences have no idea who comes first.

The second type is that the audiences know the end but they have no clue how to get to the end. For example, in a love story, the hero and heroine doom to meet in the end, but how they meet each other becomes intriguing.

教授講解了電影拍攝里兩種吊觀眾口味的辦法。第一個(gè)是觀眾不知道結(jié)果，比如說兩個(gè)人有相同的目的，一個(gè)場景是一個(gè)人在找東西，另一個(gè)場景是另一個(gè)人找到關(guān)鍵線索，然后觀眾就會(huì)很好奇，到底誰最后能成功。

第二個(gè)是已經(jīng)知道結(jié)果，但是觀眾仍然會(huì)好奇怎么到這個(gè)結(jié)果，比如說觀眾剛開始就知道兩個(gè)人相愛在一起了，但是仍然想知道他們是怎么遇見的等等。
